My name is John F Taylor, and it’s been said of my writing:
“You commit suicide on the page.”
“You are naked before the world when you write.”
I thought of telling you some engaging great story of how I discovered my “voice” in the turmoils of my teenage angst ridden years. Fact of the matter is, that’s not how it happened. Basically, a woman I was involved with destroyed what little ego I’d left after my fiancee & I split. I had nothing but paper & a typewriter & I wrote pages of just rambling prose for days & days.
Somewhere along the line, my writing mentor/best friend Michael McLarty & I were talking; he asked to the see the stuff I’d done. He read it, then began to explain the mechanics of poetry writing etc. Over the next 5 or so years, I wrote some, but nothing spectacular.
Eventually, I wanted to publish & I put together a book of poetry & published it myself as I did at least two more times later in life.
All are out of print now but there may be a copy floating around somewhere. I’ve also published a number of horror genre short stories both in print & on the web as well as having my poems published in numerous places as well, & yes I’ve even had some of them published in Erotica journals.
Then we arrive here today. You’re reading this, hopefully reading & enjoying some heartfelt poetry or sitting on the edge of your chair reading a short thriller I wrote. Whatever the case may be, almost everything you’re taking in here is because of a Muse. Yes, they’re real, well at least mine was/is anyway.
She came into my life at a time when I was not at my best, took me into her waiting arms & well, this is the result.
To you dear reader, I invite your commentary & your impressions of my work, &…hope you find it worthy of sharing & even signing up for the newsletter, or even better: purchasing one of the books available for sale in the store. In the end, I thank you for spending some time with me.
