Requiem for a Poet

Requiem for a Poet

Words flow tonight

not from my tongue

but from the quiet embrace of

a muse who sleeps

hopefully

Smiling

she

whom I have hurt

beyond measure

yet comes

to my side

my shattered heart

In her beautiful

hands

asking only

that I

A broken poet

love her

without the inhibiting

tower

walls I have

built so high

come down

All is forgiven now

for love conquers the daemons of

horrors once

Known as truth

open arms

silent tears cut rivers

across that mask

which she alone pulls away

seeing the truth

Loving what she has found

without measure
